Truck was running fine until I replaced the fuel pump. It had a pin-hole leak in the side.

I can hear the fuel pump actuating when i turn the motor over, but no fuel is being pumped through. I put a little suction on the IN fuel line and gas flowed out easily, so I know its not an issue between the fuel pump and the fuel tank.

Gotta prime them somehow? Any thoughts?

possibly air locked....never ran into that issue...but i would try this.....the mechanical pump has 3 outlets: the single (on 1 side of pump) is from tank, the other 2 (on other side of pump) bottom is to carb & top is return to tank. apply suction/vacuum directly to carburetor outlet of pump.

I'll give that a shot, RagRag.

Thanks BMPH.

Acquired the 50 from my grandfather who bought it new in 1987. I learned to drive in the truck, but it's only been used to haul a boat to the ramp and take off trash for the last 10 years. Needs some work.

Looks like there was supposed to be a spacer between the FP and block. It's ordered. Will see if that fixes it tomorrow

I guess most of you guys replace the stock carb with a Weber and an elec. fuel pump?

the mikunis are fickle beasts and ethanol eats them alive - a lot of us have changed them out, others keep what they have working. Webers work best with electric fuel pumps. Welcome to the forum - pics would be nice too.
