Then on top of those i found a CLEAN set of damn near brand new 225/60-15 BFG G-Force Sports on a BMW. the junk yard removed the tires for free!!

Those would even look good painted black or powder coated. WTG!

Nice find there! If you want a budget way to get them clean reach for the non caustic oven cleaner - it'll rip the old road grime and brake pad dust off relatively easily. To get the rust, mix up some citric acid powder in a cup of water and brush it in until the rust dissolves away. And for the final finish I use autosol paste and an old cotton sheet. They'll come up nice and blingy!

You might as well remove the valve stems...that way you don't have to try to clean around them. You'll want new stems, anyway.

Lol you guys have obviously never worked with naval jelly. I kinda scares me what this stuff can do to rust lol. WEAR GLOVES! I may be pink, but it's not nice! The plan is to polish the lips and then paint the centers white and leave the studs black, to go with this whole black and white theme I have going

so i picked the nastiest rustiest one out of the bunch and went to work with the naval jelly and steel wool. some of the pitting went all the way thru the chrome, but hey for $80 i can't complain, i still have to hit them up with some flitz and a polishing ball but they shine pretty good

they fit the 80's race truck theme i'm going for pretty well, now to put on some flares!

Oh yeah, your JY find wheels look awesome now! I admit that I've never heard of 'naval jelly' (I'm sure naval lint is not the same thing...) but it has worked like magic  Not a lot you can do when chrome goes bad but you can still get it to look more than presentable with some elbow grease.

Naval jelly is a rust dissolver. I think the "naval" part comes from its navy background. It's a pink jelly, that you wanna wear gloves when using.

Looking sharp... Thanks for the heads up on naval jelly... I was going to say I had some cragar ss's on a 82 monte carlo that the chrome was coming off the centers so I had the centers sand blasted and then I painted them the same color (or as close as I could get) to the pin stripes and then cleared them.. I loved the look.. But it sounds like you have a good plan already..
