Hey guys, I am getting ready to replace the timing assembly on my 1980 D50 Sport, and before I did, I wanted to see if I could get some words of advice on the procedure. Especially since I have never done this before. Also, I plan to replace the valve springs and valves along with a new water pump that I happen to have had sitting around from an earlier purchase I just simply never got to. But I am mostly trying to figure out the easiest way to replace this timing assembly.

Nobody has any info for me on the topic? I find that hard to believe.

Pull the radiator. Then just work your way in. It's not that hard. The adjuster with the spring in it is the hardest part. Look through the first gen manual before you tear into it. It has good pictures of whats involved.

I have looked through my Hanes manual, and I wasn't clear on whether or not the head needs to be removed as well. I just want to make sure everything gets its proper seal with new gaskets or whatever it needs.
