The taped black wire is grounded to the frame but there are two other ones connected to the neg. side of the battery.
The thing with the vacuum hose attached to it has an open nipple on it what goes on it and where does it connect? It has wires running out of the bottom but I know nothing other than that. I haven't been able to find it in the Hayne's manual either. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.93239324

It looks to me to be the EGR Control Solenoid, looks like someone was killing the emissions control system. if it runs, fuggit.

It is either something for emmisions control or something on the computer controled carb. It is in the manuals, just hard to decipher it in there as I know I've seen all that stuff in the manuals

If you have AC then it's for the idle speed kick up.

DO you have a smog layout sticker on the inside of your hood? They usually put one up there and showed the smog system hosing and stuff.

It does have AC but the AC clutch is the silver switch on the dash is my intro post... I'll pull out the manual tomorrow and start reading. Thanks

I'll look for the sticker tomorrow. I've been super busy the past few days.
