Does anybody know if the front and or rear bumpers are interchangeable between the 1st and 2nd gen Ram 50's? Can you simply swap the mounting brackets or do they not fit at all?

I know the second gen trucks metal and plastic bumpers as well as the rear bumpers. Parts between the 1st gen and second gen im not sure unless some fabrication is used.

Front will not just bolt up as 1st gen bumpers don't wrap all the way around to the wheel wells like the 2nd gen. Back bumper im not sure on

I'm sure a redrill can be in order. I think I'd rather have a Toyota chrome bumper instead of the black mistubishi though. Or no rear bumper for a clean look.

Thats what I did, I removed the rear bumper, and you can buy new Roll Pans online too, for an even cleaner look.

The Rear Bumper swaps over directly. Not the front bumper though, they're mounted differently. The 1st Gen Bumper is a little shorter (center section) and not quite as tall.

I have a Chrome 1st Gen Bumper with 2nd Gen Bumper Corners on my '87 though, it takes some modifications to fit. Mine was sliced to fit a snow plow frame (bumper is mounted to the plow frame)

That's exactly the answer I was looking for. You answered the question perfectly. Thanks 74!!

1st and 2nd gen rear bumpers are the same; the brackets are different due to the difference in the rollpan is deeper on the 2nd gen than the 1st gen. My Dad's 88 had my 1st gen aftermarket rear bumper on it, although that bumper was universal to start with. Never got around to fitting a 2nd gen bumper to a first gen on the front, but with a bit of trimming, should fit up fairly well.
