I have 31 x 10.5s on stock 6" rims that rub the rear lip of the front fenderwell opening only slighty when turning.

Depends on how much you want to fuck it up with stupid, ugly shit like slamming and bagging.

It's a truck. Are you going to use it as a truck, or is your ego all wrapped up in fantasies of a jacked-up purple Day-Glo monster driving down Main Street with tractor tires and air-horns, while wimmen on the street swoon with ecstasy?

16s are good with standard tire profiles. Me, I wouldn't go bigger than 18, just to provide decent suspension movement.

I know the first gens had 14" rims on them. There was not much of a selection but the BFG All Terrain look good on them.

<Shrug> What? A church-going family man can't have strong opinions about how stupid it is to turn a valuable tool into a useless piece of junk?

Beauty lies in the effectiveness and efficiency of the machine, the utility, the handling, the diversity of application.

Nothing wrong with a decent paint job, but fucking up the suspension and putting balloons in it to bounce up and down to impress the neighborhood kids is like putting a clown ruff, hat, and booties on a field champion Chesapeake retriever, then tying a 50-pound drag to his ankles before sending him out to hunt.

It makes me sick. Behold, I hereby officially barf slimy green stuff at bagging and slamming. It just doesn't GET any stupider.

Yes, but you must admit that when some of them trucks are done they really are a work of art. Weather it's lifted or lowered. I agree that there is a wrong way to do it and many guys do it the wrong way. But lets face it, everyone must make there own mistakes to learn from. The one that gets me is when everything is chrome. Thats just silly.

OH come on Camoit chrome makes it go faster and 4wheel better, less drag and more slippery so mud wont stick.

Beauty lies in the beholder, at least that's what the old saying use to say!
Damn if this don't make me want to go out and chrome my truck to death and put air bags on it and cruz through Sacramento and Hagerstown with my bass turned way up so the windows rattle for blocks around. Camoit, come to the Dark Side...Luke, I am your father!(voice over of Obi-Wan Kenobi)

Hmm. I suppose everyone has a right to define "art" in his or her own terms. To me, however, "art" is an abstraction of form, and form is derivative of function. In my opinion, of course -- and people will disagree about form following function.

Anyway, see-sawing a pickup truck up and down with compressed air or hydraulics is not an extension of the function of a truck, and therefore not a proper extension of the form. Jacking it up and putting oversized and basically non-function-enhancing wheels on it does abstract from form. I still think it's ugly, but that's opinion, not definition.

Hey, I don't even like clear-coats. Goddamn paint should do the job. Don't gild the lily. :-)

Sorry -- arguing about bullshit like "what is beautiful?" is a weakness of mine. Yup, waste of time, but what else have I got to do?

This guy pulled into the Walmart parking lot the other day driving a '74 Firebird, the old 400 engine. Paint job hanging on by a thread, tires showing fabric, all the fuzz done worn off the dice. It's overheating a little bit (surprise!), so he pops the hood to air it out. F**king engine is black from soot and oil leaks, but there's a brand-new chrome plated air-filter housing sitting on top of the mess. I laughed my goddamn ass off.

In Hagerstown, if you chromed the whole damn thing, wheels and all, you'd get your own revolving platform at the summer car show at the Valley Mall. And the locals would fall down and worship. Your fame might dwarf that of Dale Earnhardt, Senior and Junior put-together.

...come to the Dark Side...Luke, I am your father!(voice over of.......)

The voice of James Earl Jones, aka Darth Vader, is what Luke heard.

Obi Wan was NOT Luke's father. Obi Wan was played by Alec Guinness.

The original question here is about tire size, not rims. The largest MM stock size is about a 28" diameter tire. I've seen many with 30x9.5 tires on 15" rims. Otherwise, you'll be working within the limits of the stock front fenderwell opening. A 2" body lift will allow 33" tires and no rubbing.

Baldy on other boards has SAS and runs 35's.

Depends on how much of the original D50/MM you want to throw away and replace with different parts... The only thing stock on mine is about 60% of the sheet metal/body

Mine sits on a 70's Dodge Frame, with an Altered 114" Wheelbase, Narrowtrack Jeep D44 Front Axle / Chrysler 8.25" Rear (Eventually swapping them for a pair of Dana 60's) and 6" of Lift (4" Suspension, 2" Body), and Trimmed Fenders with 40" Tires.

So I wonder how much this thing weighs now. Chrome in rattle can or true chrome plating? he could probably get and extra 1-2 mph if he plated the wheels.

Todays courts probably not, They would say it was your fault for squinting and then make you pay for a years worth of polish for the guy.

The chrome job on the GTR is actually a wrap job.

The tire size on my 87 mm spx 4x4 is 235/75R15 yes with chrome wheels (came with the truck when i bought from gfs dad) the tires are a little bigger than stock but since i run LTs i have a little bit better performance. Yes i go mudding and the LTs help me to glide through holes that swallow my buddys f250 turbo diesel with the 3in lift. Hell the extra traction also helps me pull him when need be :lmao:
