Galant had a 2.0L SOHC 16V-head engine for '92-'93 that may or may not be a close relative of the 2.4 head. It was fuel-injected, therefore has the wide ports, but that's not my question. Is it possible that there exists a carburetor intake manifold that would fit that head? Modifying the FI intake would be pretty much out of the question.

Got a picture of one?

I may have the manifold you are looking for - I bought it for my 86 g63b, but the prots are wrong on the intake for it. Put up the pics and maybe I have the intake you need. Does that head use a distributor or is it computer fired - I have seen both.

Might be a cool upgrade. 16V while keeping it SOHC. I wonder what the compression ratio would be?

I've only seen the pictures that a couple of the head-rebuilding outfits put up online. You can tell from the oval, evenly-spaced intake ports that it's EFI. Also, I figure Mitsubishi had everything changed over to FI by '92 anyway. G63B intake ports are 2 & 2. I have an '86 and '88 intake manifold, and no way that would adapt. I might give it a try if there was a carburetor manifold around -- although I've always been curious about hanging 2 S/U carbs on long tubes, just to see what happens. :-)

I'm pretty sure the '89 - '92 SOHC Galant heads are 8-valve. I know that a 2.4L head can be used on the 2.0L block, and I'm wondering if the 1.8L head for the 4G93 might, although I think not. I have a 4G93 in a Summit, and it has perceptibly more power than an 8V 2.0L.

Yes, wrong port set-up. I have a carb and manifold from an '86.
