This is my 1989 Mitsubishi Mighty Max. I just acquired it a few days ago on a straight up trade for a 1993 Honda Civic JDM D15B. The truck is still in great condition given its age and I have some big, yet modest, plans for it.

Welcome to the site, thats a good looking truck you have. What are some of your plans for it?

Thanks. I've always had an eye for these trucks and I'm glad I was finally able to get my hands on one after all these years of waiting. I'm just gonna do some simple things like smooth out the body and bag it. It's my daily driver so I'm not really going for show truck. I'm also in the works now with some subtle chrome features like grill, bumper, and Mazda B series mirrors. Already rewired the entire truck so I need to replace some audio components and build a custom sub box. Gonna go the clear lens route all the way around the truck until I finally say screw it and shave the whole ass end and front fenders. Here's a pic of the rear bag setup on my last B series Mazda that I'm probably gonna replicate on the Max:

The front end on this thing looks like its going to be fun to work with. I did some research online and came across this tech article:
http://www.minitruckinweb.com/tech/suspension/0711mt_1994_mitsubishi_mighty_max_front_bags/viewall.html

My two biggest questions I have so far with this truck are probably the most common two I've encountered researching online:

1. Where can one acquire a phantom grill for this truck? How can one make a phantom grill for this truck?

2. So what's the deal with the Eclipse/Talon turbo motor swap?

For the phantom grille, use a phantom grille for an 81-87 full size chevy truck and shorten it top to bottom; the fbi phantom grilles are out of production. The 4g63 swap is to get a motor that has much more performance potential and parts, and will bolt up to the tranny of a 2.0 narrow block truck with no adaptors. There is a lot of other work that needs to be done to do the swap - check out www.hotrodcoffeeshop.com (http://www.hotrodcoffeeshop.com) for more info on the swap.

I like it.
What did the bucket seats come out of?
Nice stance too...how is it dropped right now?

Nice truck! I really like those wheels [wink]. As for the grille, that's a tough find. I got mine a long time ago from like T-Rex...I think. Anyway, just do a google search, I'm sure you'll find one. I look around and see if I can find one for you. I too would like to know what seats those came out off. I have the bench, and I keep flipping back and forth about keeping it. If I find the right seats, I'll swap it.
Good luck with your truck and don't be afraid to ask questions. Some of these guys and girl know their stuff. Oh, and by the way, welcome to the site!

cool.. i was wondering, aren't 205s a lil narrow for that rim? cuz im lookin into the same rims for my truck but i was thinking 235/40 or 225/45.

205 will have a little stretch on 7.5" wide, 215 will be about flush with edge of rim.

I stand corrected. I thought they were 205/40, but instead I'm they are 215/45/R17 Toyo's.

So help me out a little; did you have mod the rails or did they just bolt right on?

They didn't exactly bolt right in. Here are some pics of how they are bolted right now. As you can see in the one pic, the back part of the rail is just short of lining up with the stock mounting point so a new hole would need to be drilled to bolt them down in the back.

damn even the 215/45 lets da rim stick out a bit (last picture). how the ride on them?

im thinkin if i do my set up with 225/45 it would cover the rim edge a lil more. would 225/50 look too beefy? im not tryin to feel every lil bump in the road either. lol

I honestly couldn't tell you 100% on the ride. My truck having the static drop already has a firm ride and I feel every bump, pot hole, etc. in the road.

Looks good so far. I see it's got a weber. You need a header to clean that up in there and get some power out of her.

I would like to, but I'm honestly about to just get rid of this thing. I'm kinda getting burned out trying to find replacement parts for this thing.

It looks like ya just started on it. Besides, you just found the best site to get the hard to find parts off of. I have seen some real hard to find want adds get posted and they got just what they were looking for.

yeah.. i wanna avoid that. i had too many sport suspensions ovr the years on my cars. i wanna ride it stock for a change. lol

that can be frustrating but they're really simple trucks and w/ preventative maint. it'll last u for a long time! up to u but i'd suggest that u dnt give up just yet..as stated above, wanted and sales ads can pop up anytime just keep an eye out for it cuz ya nvr know
