I'm about to replace my stock jet valve head with a new 8v head. Would there be any benefit to fuel economy to add headers?
I use the truck to pull my boats. Would there be any additional power to justify the cost?
thanks

Been reading on the web Pacesetter headers are junk. Only spot welded on the outside.
The weld on the backside is so bulky they wont seal. Any others to consider?

That is the only one currently available - just grind the backside welds flat and weld the outside all the way around and it will seal. The best header ever made was the Doug Thorley tri-y header, but they won't make them anymore even after they said they would once the old stock sold out. I got one of the last ones they had and I will not part with it - had one on my 85 back in 89 and with a weber carb and a flowmaster custom bent system, you could really tell the difference - too bad it tore the tranny apart.

I got the pacesetter headers and I am very pleased. there is no bulky weld on the backside to be ground smooth and it is welded all the way around on the outside. Good deal.
Thanks Pennyman1

Must have - I bought a replacement several years ago and it matched the description of the one in the junk post - I haven't used it yet because of it and I ended up grabbing a Doug Thorley header when they closed them out a couple of years ago.

just remember, pacesetter is a power header, not a torque header.

So what's the difference? My reason for getting them was to improve power and fuel economy while pulling my boat.
It have to be an improvement over my stock manifold which is cracked.

IF you can get one, it'll be crap. I had to have mine re-welded and the same problem with the mating side. I laid into it with the belt sander and 50 grit to get it flat and seal.

PM Me and I'll send you the pix of the original state and remediation.

Yes the pacesetter is a power header; the Doug Thorley header is a torque header built especially for the torque band of the 2.6.

I only have one, how many did you order? Anyway, I had to redrill 2 of the bolt holes in the flange but that was the only problem. That was in 1998, still runs fine today, no rust either.

Hay ram50rocket, are you really in Bagram, Afghanistan. Lets see some Pict's of the place. If you are there then we will need to add you to the list of over seas people. How did you find a D50 over there? I thought Toyota's were the truck of choice?

I haven't seen any D-50's over here. Mostly TATA's, Toyota's and Ford minitrucks. I bought mine in 95' in my hometown in Oregon. If I am here? I will have to prove it with pictures? Allright, I'll see what i can do. People take some pics but it's not allowed.

No you don't need to prove it.. I just figured you have the d50 there. We do have the military base section for you guys to use and abuse in any way you see fit. So you can't take pictures. That sucks. Fricking government and there regulations. If you can take pictures please put them in the military base. We love shots of the cool things you get to play with over there. Once they get back here all the attachments that make them cool are gone.

Well then let me guess. A contractor that wears body armor and uses an MP5 to protect the guys that make this thing. They need to be protected because I would put it on the endangered species list myself... :)

bummer Perfect Polly is one of the worst things ever sold on TV I have ever seen, but someone will buy them. As -for your header question, it will help, the big problem is no one makes then any more. But we are working on getting them copied. In the next couple of months we will have a source for them. See this thread.

So you are working in communications. I can see why they don't want pictures taken. It shows. LOL
