Drove my pu to work yesterday and it runs good. It has a knock or tap somewhere in the top end. I'm very familiar with lifter noise and this doesn't seem to be what I'm hearing. It also does not sound like a bearing noise either. Does this engine, 3.0, have inserts for valve guides? Could I have a valve guide that is slipping? Any ideas? I've had several of my friends listen and we are all puzzled. Doesn't sound like a wrist pin either because it seems to come and go.
