I just ordered the only cluster I could find on the internet (... the entire internet, 45 mins of searching yielded just one cluster)

But the issue is that the new one has more than double the mileage of my truck.

Are these things pretty easy to crack open and roll back? I'd rather just not have to do extra math every time I try to figure out what I have for actual mileage.

I just didn't remember from the one time I've had mine out if the lens was held on by clips, or if it was something retarded like plast-i-welded or something.

the clean lense i has a few screws and a couple of clips that hold it, i havent tried rolling one back though

the horrible part about it is that as soon as they sent the tracking info on the one with 28*,*** miles on it, they put one up that only had 15*,*** miles ... figures

Why not just swap out the speedo part of the cluster? its easy on a 1st gen; not sure ona 2nd gen tho

I dont think the speedo section will swap from one type of cluster to the other on these, but I'll take a look. It would save me over 100,000 of trying to roll this one back lol

Good ol pull and pray method

second gen speedos will swap between clusters. I went to the full gauge unit from the stock idiot light set up. You will need to change out the mechanism that resets the trip odometer, which can be tedious. But it's totally doable.

Sorry, hadn't checked in on here all day... Here's how it went...

1) Cracked open new cluster
2) Removed Gauge needles and face
3) Separated odometer from the worm gear that turns it.
4) used compressed air to spin the milage backwards toward what is actually on my truck
5) rolled back about 60,000 mile that way
6) 1/10th # broke off from the rest of the odo (FML, broken setup)
7) Go out to the truck
8) Pulled out the stock cluster
9) ripped open the stock cluster
10) remove original speedo
11) remove that whole "Maint Req'd" light setup from both clusters (useless garbage anyway)
12) swap trip meter reset bracket
13 this is where the interesting part starts) try to clean the lens for the new cluster to no avail ... keeps getting worse and worse.
14) 500 grit sand paper (oh man did I think I had effed up royally at this point)
15) 800 grit sand paper
16) 2000 grit pad
17) foam pad with rubbing compound
18) microfiber pads for cleanup
19) take a step back, remember the results of step 14, and I think my quote was "damn I'm good"
20) install brand new looking cluster in truck
21) profit
