throttle body's

i've been looking at pre '95 throttle body's to see if there is anything that i can use on my '89 ram 50's stock 2.6 intake. i've found a couple that i think i could use that would require very little machining to adapt. does anyone have a suggestion as to a good throttle body. i'm tired of the carbs and am trying to find a good F.I. intake manifold or throttle body setup. i bought an '89 power ram 50 4x4 a few months ago and the previous owner had modified the intake to accomidate an older ford one barrel carberator (i'm assuming from a 300 straight six). the thing runs like a beat dog but gets 9-11 mpg on a good day. just want something that will be more efficient that i can put on it and my new motor for my other '89 power ram 50 4x4. suggestions are great.

I'm not sure what you want to do-are you going to convert to fuel injection? That's the only throttle body application you will find. If that's your goal, there is a lot of information available online to help with that conversion. One of the easiest is using a GM throttle body injection system off of an 80s S-10 with the 2.8l v6. You can use the entire set up minus the emissions crap, with either the stock ECU or use the MegaSquirt I or II to completely control fuel injection and ignition, or only ignition, or only fuel injection. This link takes you to the DYI autotuning website that has lots of great information, and a build thread where they swap a TBI system onto a 70s Nova with a stock 350. All of the processes and techniques translated perfectly to our carbed 2.6l motors.

It's a 3 part article, tons of good info. You can even go totally distributor-less using parts from a Ford EDIS4 system for about $75. Don't know if any of this is helpful-if not, sorry.

You're welcome. Just happy to spread the joy  I've been on the receiving end more often than the giving on this forum.
