my friend offered me the F.I. intake from his 89 turbo 2.6 starion. can i use the intake without the turbo on my 89 ram 50? by the way, the turbo is shot and the exhaust manifold is cracked.

You'll need the wiring and a computer to use the FI unit. Not worth the trouble without the turbo - the injectors are a 2 stage setup for a turbo, and the programming to make it work will cost a small fortune to make it driveable. Most people go with a Megasquirt ecu with multiport injection; you could use the throttle body to meter air and leave the injectors to plug the holes.

I've wondered the same thing. Are the Aussie Magna intakes an option? are they worth the trouble? is it possible to modify the mitsu 2.4 truck injection system?

The Magna intakes are a common swap for the conquest turbo cars. It requires swapping the thermo and throttle body mount to the other end to make it work on the truck / conquest setup; not a hard swap. The 2.4 injectors could probably be used, but the ecm for the 2.4 can't be modified to wotk with the Magna intake easily; again a Megasquirt is the way to go.

so, is the megasquirt deal a whole F.I. system or a way to modify an existing system? never really dealt with F.I. or T.B. before now, only carbs.

It is a programmable system that is highly flexible for just about any engine out there. There is also a lot of information on setup as well as programs to run for the more popular engines, such as the 2.6 and 2.0 mitsu engines.

so should i find a non-turbo F.I. intake to use or is there a particular one that works better? or is there a T.B. i can use on my stock intake?

Thanks to Pennyman for the suggestion to use Megasquirt setup. This link has tons of info and a conversion article installing a GM Throttle Body Injection system on an old Nova.

Looks like MegaSquirt is the way to go.
