Wiring in the Stock Console Gauges

I have a stock console and am installing it on a 1st Gen that never had one. I can wire the oil pressure gauge and have the correct sending unit. What's throwing me is the ammeter. It looks like it needs to be spliced into the fusible link with a 5amp fuse on each leg.

Does this make sense? Any assistance would be appreciated.
