my friends are stuck in so cal right now. i guess the tranny went out, motor still runs fine.not a clutch issue, still has clutch fluid, and goes through all gears, but no dice just bad noise. no noise when clutch is in, only when released and in gear. they were on the highway and it just dropped out. need to figure out what to do with it. maybe sell? or replace tranny, found a '90 montero 4wd tranny in bernadino, but dont know who to call to get it done- and time is of the essence here. friends and truck are stuck in ludlow ca, outside of barstow right now. they were headed to santa fe...

I expect most cheap fucks to respond that way. Thats why their trucks are $2 trucks cause they won't fix them correctly. I Love my truck and give it what ever it needs.

Is that the tranny only or the tranny and transfer case? If you are using all original mitsu parts for the rebuild and labor to rebuild and install in a truck that is not out of line. It cost me $450+ in the late 80's to get all the parts to rebuilt a km145 from the dodge dealer and that was with a 35% discount! I paid a friend who is a Dodge mechanic with tranny training $500 for labor to rehab mine, and I put the tranny in myself.

89 was the last year for the km145 which is what is in the 4x4 diesel. You will need to find a 85-89 montero or dodge raider to get going again. I don't have time this week to travel. It's a job out on the road anyways. look on car-part .com I found one in ridgecrest 1-800-446-5865 for the whole thing t-case and all. Used of coarse not rebuilt but better than what they have. Sounds like the cluster broke in theirs.

hey mike, your phone inbox is full. i was hoping to figure out if the diesel and gas trans have the starter on the same side? the trans that is hooked up on the 4d56t is the V5MT i am pretty sure, does it have a removable bellhousing? just trying to figure out if a '90 montero MT will bolt right up. i hear that any wideblock(?) trans will fit, but i am wondering if the starter position is the same, and if not, can we just swap bellhousings? truck is in barstow now, they got it towed and are looking for a trans mechanic and trans. When we swapped the 4d55 for the 56, the KM145 trans didnt last too long, then we used the trans that came with the half cut, and i had to use a different slip yoke- and the part number i found was for the V5MT application. otherwise, i know you collect these trucks , dont suppose you have a 4x4 diesel you would want to trade/sell for this one? let me know ASAP, and thanks!

None for sale now. Best bet is to stay with a km 145 so everything bolts up. I have a unit if they want it. 1000.00 exchange. Gonna cost me that to fix the old one with its damage.
