need tranny!

i went from ct to nc last weekend and halfway home my 4th gear started acting up like grinding when you put it in 4th. maybe a syncro or a bearing? so i took the tranny out and noticed a bit of play in the input shaft bearing. then i got a bad idea and took it apart. :naughty: i will never do that again. any one got a diesel 5psd or auto for cheap? or anybody want to rebuild mine? i would even be happy with a rebuild manual or instruction or anything! it seems like i am going to have to get that truck from mopartec in order to keep rolling on down the greasy road that i call my rat race.

i understand your dilemma, but either you buy a trans rebuild kit and do it your self or take it to a trans shop. and a last effort would be a bone yard trans. all wide blocks will fit but you will have to convert to a clutch cable or make that bell housing accept the slave cyl. but i think those kits are still on eBay let me see if i can find a link.

thank you very much. useful info indeed. if i win lotto i will get the rebuild kit then maybe go to school to learn how to use it, but for now i will probably get seths truck and throw all these tranny parts in a barrel in storage. unless any body wants to teach me this is just a little beyond my comfort zone. do ineed a press(got access) or a puller? or any other tools besides the ordinary?

Also if yours is a 2wd than you could use a starion trans otherwise if its 4wd 83-89 Raider or short wheel base montero have the km145. Those are all Hydraulic like your diesel! I have transmissions but they wont be cheap as they are rebuilt on the shelf ready to go.

MikeWarme = More parts than the dealer
