Finally back

Postby rednec_d » Sat Mar 27, 2010 5:16 pm

HELLO ALL!! I would like to let you guys know that i am back online and with a new addition to the truck collection. I have 84 d-50 2.3 td 5 spd 4x4. body is pretty good for trucks this age around here and it runs and drives. I only need to put the new caliper on the front and new glow plugs. I will try to get some pictures taken tomorrow. I have not given up on my other diesel yet and currently taking advice from another d-50 owner and cleaning the injectors as it ran just like his did in a video.

Let me know if cleaning the injectors fixes your problems. If not it's deeper into the fuel system.

Mine was parked for a long time, by the time it was all said and done i had torn down, cleaned and resealed the Injector Pump, flushed the Injector Lines and Cleaned the Injectors.

Does your new "toy" still have the Glow Plug Controller? If not you'll probably want a set of 12V Glow Plugs. NGK part number 7880 Y-710J 8-) IIRC they're for a 1987 Isuzu Diesel, but they're a perfect match for the 6V Glow Plugs in the 4D55. I searched high and low for ages to find a set of 12V plugs for it, ended up finding the answer on a Chevette forum  Which ended up being those NGK 7880 plugs.

took glow plugs out of my gray truck just to check to see if it was them. YES! It now starts up fine and runs great. I will put the other caliper on the front brakes tomorrow then figure out my fuel tank issue. I am uploading my pictures on a site right now so they will be here in a few. Bare with me they aren't the best. :geek:

Looks like you will need to bust out the cut-off wheel to repair the whole in the bed

The bodywork doesn't scare me. I did the boxside on my gray truck pretty quick and also have a rollover repair under my belt. Body can wait until i get mechanical under control. Only bad thing about these trucks' boxsides are that the sheet metal is really thick compared to other parts of the truck and other trucks.
