AROUND WHAT YEAR 2.6 L DIDNT HAVE THE LITTLE TIN COVER ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE BLOCK COVERING THE BALANCE SHAFT? I BOUGHT A RAIDER WITH A LOCKED UP MOTOR AND IT HAD THE COVER ON THE SIDE ..ALSO THE MOTOR IN MY 80 D50 HAS THE SAME COVER BUT I DONT KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IT IS ORIGINAL ( PRETTY SURE IT IS THOUGH) BUT THE USED MOTOR I GOT DOSEN'T HAVE THE PLATE AND THE GUY I GOT IN FROM JSUT TOLD ME IT CAME OUT OF A TRUCK THAT RUN GOOD BUT THE BODY WAS "BAD"... I'M JUST TRYING TO FIGURE ABOUT WHAT YEAR IT IS .....ANYBODY EVER NOTICED THIS ? THE PLATE IS HARD TO SEE IF THE COMPRESSOR/BRACKET IS ON....

That might be a caravan block- all truck blocks I've seen have the covers.

MAYBE SO ... THE HEAD HAS JET VALVES THOUGH... MAYBE VAN BLOCK TRUCK HEAD?

hmm. So did the caravan engines still come with balance shafts with not covers?

all 2.6s have balance shafts- canadian 2.6s don't have jet valves though. Caravans also had points in the distributor.

Never tried to adjust a chain guide on a caravan so I wouldn't know. probably a leftover of the kluged 2.6 in a Caravan; the air pump driven off the cam is another example of klugging by mitsu for dodge.

hey, I've got an 80 challenger block, it has the cover. my 86 truck does not.
