easiest engine drop in

Hello, all. I'm new here but i've owned my 1991 Dodge Power Ram 50 4x4 for about 5 years now. I bought a Blazer ZR2 about a year ago and haven't really been keepin up on the dodge.

It was my first vehicle so i can't stand to see it just sitting in my driveway so i'm looking to getting back into fixin it up. It has a number of prolems with it, smokes real bad and has a horrible tranny fluid leak.

I've decided to look into what i can do for the engine first. It runs just fine it just smokes a good bit. I think its valve guide seals but im not 100% also has some gasket leaks and burns a little coolent.

It has the 3.0L V6. I was wondering what i can do in ways of just dropping in a new motor. Lookin to go the easiest route. Of course bigger is always nicer. Just looking to get a few ideas for now to price things out. Plan on giving the truck a little more height and a bit bigger tires. I loved the truck off road it did great kept up with most full size trucks with little problems especially for being a stock little truck.

Welcome to the site. I'm jealous of your 3.0 v6! What are your goals for the engine swap-more torque and horsepower for a daily driver, or something more extreme? Mitsubishi upgraded the 3.0 to a 3.5 and finally a 3.8 in the mid to late 90's, and they should bolt up to your tranny, or the tranny and engine combo from a donor truck would work. You would need to swap the wiring harness and all of that stuff as well, unless they would work with your existing intake and heads. There are options for your 3.0 also, since DOHC and turbo versions of that motor were used in the 3000GT/Dodge Stealth, and the Diamante. As far as easy goes, a rebuild with some HP parts would do it.
