Top Speed?

Postby astrawn » Sat Jul 25, 2009 9:16 pm

I got a 92 2.4l 5 speed Mighty Max. I dont have a tach and was wondering what the top speed/rpms on these motors. I had to repair my head and finnaly got it all back together and running great. I was just curious, the manual says it wasnt designed to go over 55. I figured its faster but I dont want to blow my motor either. Any info would help, thanks.

They will go over 55. I've gone 90 in mine, but with my wide tires, it got a little 'floaty'. I think one of the members on mightyd50 said it would go 115mph in 4th gear, but I may be thinking about a different truck so don't quote me.

Dont really know but the ECU will cut ya off at 6k if its FI and if your gettin a stock 2.6 or 2.0 to push 5000 its being pushed pretty damned hard. I wouldnt worry about tomany revs youll find out one way or the other whether its gonna blow or not.

OK thanks for the info. I think I am fixing to get a guage cluster with tach. I would like to know for sure since I just got my head fixed and my truck is all back together running great. It seems to smooth out once I hit about 65-70mph.
