My brother has an 87 d-50 he bought it new and drove the crap out of it for years, a couple of years back the 2.6 finally gave up, he then went through the motor had it punched out .30 over put in TRW pistons and push rods bought a new head had it port and polished and installed a slightly bigger cam.
All was well untill a tree fell on the truck; smashed the cab after only 800 miles on the new motor.
So now he's decided to sell it all but, has no idea what to ask; he has 2500.00 in the motor, what do you guys think would be a fair price.

Well in california a fresh rebuilt goes around $2000. Out there I would ask for 1500 but there is no warranty on it. So that is a factor. You should keep it in the truck and make it so it runs. That would help to sell it. Good Luck with the sale. I hope you are able to sell it. I have a brand new 2.0 short block and can't give it away. So if you can get $1000 for it take it.
