3.0 motor

Need some advice guys. I have a 89 power ram that I love and want to keep, but it has no engine in it. Since I have had it, it's had a 2.6 in it, which I pulled to put in a 2.3 diesel. When the 2.3 blew up, Chinese parts, I wanted to convert it to fuel injected and have been looking for a 2.4. I just found a 3.0 that was recently rebuilt top to bottom but after 500 miles has developed what is probably a rod bearing noise. Will this bolt up to my 5 speed? Are these decent engines for power and reliability? Gas mileage? I can get everything off of this pick-up including the engine for 350$. The price is right, and with the whole pu available, the swap should be fairly easy. Any thoughts on this engine and the swap would be appreciated.

3.0 is an awesome motor. Don't expect better than 16mpg. It is a gas hog. Lots of torque and power. Youll need the whole harness and computer box.
I had a 92. Loved it. 4x4 v6

Just made the deal today. Wrecking yard is going to deliver it and I am going to take everything I need off of it and then they will be back to pick it up. 400$ I'm anxious to get into the bottom end and see what is wrong.

I consistently get 17-18 mpg hauling around town and have gotten just a hair over 20 on the highway (doing 60) with my '90 3.0. Extremely durable engines, pretty straight forward to work on. The early years had issues with cracking heads (do a G72 search on google) but the new design has improved cooling, so be aware of that.
