I was extremely excited about the condition of the frame and body -- vehicles this old in British Columbia don't last long without rusting through. Not a hint of rust anywhere on the body. I've power washed the frame and under body and all that came off was caked on grime. It still has the dings and dents a twenty year old truck will acquire over its life, but none of them are major. Only parts that require my attention is my tailgate and front Valance Panel. (If anyone has a Valance kicking around, shoot me a message.) Needless to say I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase; I paid $1000CAD for this:
Blue Exterior
Blue Interior
Cassette player w/ blown factory speakers
Stock 2.0 liter
150,000 km (93,205 mi)
Included the canopy

(Will post more pictures when its sunny out next.)
Now here's where the fun starts. I have access to a shop with a considerable amount of tools and equipment at my disposal. And thus far I'm in the middle of organizing how I want to smooth out this diamond. (Bare in mind, I'm not really into lowering, or throwing tons of performance parts in it -- I just want a respectable looking truck for when I go to shoot a wedding, or drive out with all my gear.)
The List (In order of importance)
1) Sand / Prime Canopy for repaint. (Until #7)
2) Weld some plate on aftermarket bumper I acquired
3) Install Stereo (Alpine iDA X303 Head Unit /SPR-13S 5-1/4" Component System)
4) Acquire new tailgate and front valance panel
5) Sand/De-Dent/Prime Body
6) Spray bed liner / gravel guard frame/underbody/wheel wells
7) Paint Body and Canopy
*Other ideas I'm considering is finding a new bench seat with fold down console / re-carpeting the interior / Installing power steering
Basically, I want to take this $1000 truck, and turn it into my bestest friend. Naturally, I will turn to you guys for questions, as this is my first actual attempt at building something more than just a simple A to B'er. I plan on documenting my progress and sharing it with you guys.
Cheers!
