Hello all. I just bought a 1985 dodge ram 50 sport. It is a long bed, and as plain jane as it gets :D . I do have a couple of other dodges though. a 1971 d100 318/3 speed, a 1972 dodge motorhome, and my BABY, a 1963 d100, 413, 60 over (426 standard bore which is 425 i was told), flat top pistons, wedge heads, mild cam, lightened crank, 727 auto, and 4:56 gears.

Anyways, I bought the 85 as a daily driver, but am having some issues. Reverse lights coming on as soon as the key is turned on, and a loud audible tapping while running.

I only have 2 questions...where can I gat a wiring diagram for my truck, and is the vavle lash adjustable, and what is the procedure?

all help is welcome. thank you in advance

well, I just got in from checking the switch. when I push the switch in, the lights shut off.......maybe something in the tranny is not hitting the switch??????? I disconnected the wires at the firewall, and threw a live wire onto the connecteion leading to the dash, and disconnected the positive cable, while keeping my jumper wire in place. Again I turned the key on, dash lights came on, and I had power to the coil......Is it supposed to happen like that or is something wrong?!?!?!

I have NO idea what engine I have. The sticker under the hood says 121.9, and fmt2.0XXXX, the sticker on the firewall says G63b...I have no clue if the engine was swapped at one point...I was in PAP yesterday, and saw the same tags, but the oil filter was more towards the rear of the engine. My oil filter is towards the front.....

If you look long and hard on the dreaded ebay, I found my 1980 Arrow factory service manual which included wiring diagram for 8.95 shipping included. Also Faxon literature was reasonable if I remember right. Good luck and welcome.

the truck has a timing belt, and I noticed that when I had the valve cover off, only the intake side rockers are adjustable. Unfortunately, its the last rocker on the left that is tapping :( so it might be bent, or the rocker assembly is bent, or, if this is an interferecne engine, it probably snapped a belt and that piston went into that valve, bending it just enough that it doesnt retract all the way into the head...but she runs GREAT except for the tick tick tick :(

the reverse switch did NOT have a ball on the end when I took it out, and it didnt fall off when I took it out. Its been missing for a while :( when I bought the truck, it had 2 broken taillights, and I thought the reverse lights didnt come on because of the broken/rusty lights.....when actually one bulb was burnt out, and the other was missing, masking the fact that they were fugged up......

Mwarme...do you have the ball only, or the whole switch? How much shipped to 92508?

and as far as the FSM, im looking at one on craigslist for 10 bux, but I dont get paid for another 3 days :x I was fortunate and got the original owners manual :D

anyways....thanks for the warm welcome. Ive been looking for a little truck to drive for a while, mainly for the gas. Im planning a trip from riverside, ca, to reno, nevada. The 63 only gets about 8 miles to the gallon, and the 71 gets about 18. The 85 has been getting about 22- 25 depending how I drive :D . Plus my neighbor had 2, a blue one and a white one. I dont know what happened to the blue one, but the white one was damn near mint, but he sold it, and 2 weeks later it was totaled :x
