a new guy from iowa

Hi all, I bought a diesel Mighty Max last year and I'm finding out what you guys already know, that these are great little pickups! I come from a big block mopar 4x4 background(still got plenty of parts btw), but I've been slowly converting my "fleet" to all diesel. (tdi jetta, 5.9 cummins dodge, and my mighty max).

anyway, after a year of driving, I had my first breakdown and my first chance to start becoming more intimate with my truck. The more i dig, the more i find out what an idiot the last owner was (disconnected balance shafts, loose bolts everywhere). I've been trying to find parts and am having a hell of a time finding anything other than more worn out stuff, so if anyone knows a good source for good engine parts, or can tell me how compatible the 4d56 is to the 4d55, what turbos fit, etc.

well, if you got everything, I'd love to to a complete overhaul. rings, bearings, seals, the works. If you can hook me up with all that, you'd be my hero! I was thinkin of taking the injector pump to a shop here so they can do it right, but didn't wanna waste my time if I couldn't get the engine up to par. A good turbo would be great too :D mines leakin oil like crazy.
I've been seeing quite a bit of 4d56 stuff for sale. they look the same to me but will stuff interchange?

You will need to bore the block and grind the crank to determine sizes. Trust me the block NEEDS boring. These always have bad taper. The blocks are sleeved. So if needed re-sleeve the block. Your machine shop can do it. Take the pump to a pro. If its not too bad should cost around $450.00 Bad shape up to $700. Injectors are about $50 ea to rebuild. Rebuilt turbos are about $350 Let me know what you need help with

Let me know where I can get a rebuilt turbo, do you have one? If I know for sure that I can get rings, ill take it to a machine shop, but I dont wanna waste my money if I cant get parts. I think I've found most other gaskets and seals.

I can still get every part. You will need pistons and rings. You have to bore for oversize pistons unless you resleeve the block to standard size. I can supply you with a rebuilt turbo. You will need to ship me yours as a core.

I do. I have a brand new TC05 turbo with wastegate housing. I wont let it go below $550. These were $1100 new when available.

cool, guess I'll start tearing down this weekend. I don't suppose you have a parts list/breakdown of everything I'll need to put it all back together? Can you email me what the parts will cost me from you? Just trying to get a figure on what this is gonna cost me. I'm gonna do it right. even though I'll have hell to pay with the wife... she'll get over it.

Thanks

btw, do you have the sleeves too or is that something I gotta get from the machine shop if it comes to that?
