So I've been yardin' a lot lately and I got a major score this time. Got some intermittent wipers for $5!!! Also got a full stock center console out of a power ram for $5! Then picked up some PERFECT CONDITION sun-visors another... yep you guessed it, $5! I'll get some pictures up as soon as it's all installed!

i want intermittant wipers ... anything more involved in switching than just swapping the switch/arm assembly?
if its just pull out the old one and put in the new one, then I am buying a set. (even tho they are like $100 new at napa ... thats how much i don't like not having intermittents

I'd love to hear what's involved too. Trying to steer, shift, and mess with wipers is getting old.

From what i remember the (at least for the 1st Gen D50's anyway) Delayed/Intermitent Wiper equipped trucks have a Different Wiring Harness with an additional plug, Different Wiper Motor & the Wiper Stalk/Arm
You can run a 2-Speed Wiper Motor on a Truck that was equipped with Delayed Wipers (plug n play), but not vice versa, at least without tearing into the wiring harness and steering collumn. My '84 and '85 both had Delayed Wipers (Sport optioned trucks) But when i replaced the Cab on my '84 i never got around to reinstalling the original Wiper Motor (so i'm stuck with 2-Speeds), same thing with my '85. I need to do some digging in the other garage and find those motors.
The Delay/Intermitent Wiper Motor uses Two 4-Pin/Wire (8 wires total) Plugs, where the 2-Speed Wiper Motor just uses One 4-Pin/Wire Plug

if they went through the trouble of plugging the clock harness into a blank plastic piece just to have the harness there wouldn't it stand to reason that the other 4 pin harness is lurking around in there too? I gotta take my column apart anyway to figure out why my ignition is bent down, i'll root around while i'm in there.

Actually the 2nd Plug connects to the Wiper Motor itself.. If it's there it should be hanging right beside the Plug that's connected to the Motor now

Actually I took out the whole assembly, both the wiper arm side and the headlight side. All in one piece that goes around the steering column, (held in by two screws) and then unplugged the harness under the dash. Plugged in the new one, screwed in the new one, and tested it out. WORKED! It's really that simple... the only hard part was finding a truck that already had the intermittent wiper to take! I didn't do anything with the motor, all the intermittent arm does is regulate the voltage that goes to the motor. That's how it works.

They Must have changed the wiring layout between the 1st Gens & 2nd Gens. Cause the 1st Gens had different wiring harnesses for various options.
Like the plain old Power-Ram 50 Wiring Harness i pulled out of the Replacement Cab for my '85 Sport (Diesel) didnt have any plugs for the Center Console Gauges, Tach, Clock, ect.
But the spare Sport harness for my '84 (that i installed in the '85 cab) had plugs for everything

Gas Engine harnesses and Diesel Wiring harnesses are DIFFERENT.

That i know. what i'm saying is
Standard/Base Model (Gas) 1st Gen Wiring Harness had no plugs or extra wiring for Options
Sport Model (Gas) 1st Gen Wiring Harness had plugs & wiring for every option i could think of.
I just happened to use a spare Sport Model (Gas) Harness for my Diesel because it had plugs for the options (center console gauges, clock, ect)
