I have decided to hang up the D50 Project. (I am keeping the motor/tranny for a later transplant - it is NOT for sale).
The truck, the parts, everything must go. Everything is clean, degreased and in mint condition in regards to the trucks condition, and condition of parts. I'm not in the business of storing dirty, rusty, junky junk yard parts. Most of these parts are refurbished i.e. cleaned and painted.The interior is complete and useable. Keep in mind this is a true 1979 unmolested Sport Truck with all the available options in '79 to include exterior options as well. Nothing has been hacked, drilled etc etc. I would like to see the truck and related parts go to someone who will put it all back together. Someone who knows what the f*ck they are doing and understands what they have. I want it to go to someone who wants the entire package. In reality, this means a motor and tranny and drive. All the related parts are for restoration purposes. The brakes, suspension and everything is fresh. Like I said, transplant your drivetrain of choice and drive.

I will not part out this truck (don't ask). I will not entertain lame/stupid or otherwise retarded offers either. If I get no response or interest then the entire project will go in a storage unit. People here know me. This isn't your ebay or craigslist peice of sh!t special. I hunted long and hard for a straight body, rust free frame and body (and I mean absolutely no rust on body), rust free floorpans, bed, etc etc. You slap a motor of choice in and drive. You spend more money and you have the best platform for a real restoration that I have ever come across. Everything has been meticulously labelled and stored in a dry garage. This platform is nicer than any driving D50's I have seen on the road.

You can respond to this thread or PM me - your choice. The truck is located in Washington State and will require a full car trailer or tow dolley to transport. I'm not UPS so don't ask. You arrange shipping/transport yourself.

Nice Vannoy..I knew I would catch sh!t for this. I did not post a reason why because who cares right? But here I go anyways....let the flaming begin.....I have found my true love. A 1976 Datsun 620 in mint condition with a highly modifed L18 and a 5 speed. I've been hunting for this rig for 6 months and finally found it. I drove 600 miles to go get it. My motor and tranny will be transplanted into this 2700lb truck.

A couple things to Note:

I will still visit and support this site
I'm 80% sure no one will make me an offer on the D50 and I had better start pricing storage units
I will have the Datsun complete in 3 months. There is nothing to do really. Its already nice.
The D50 will get done, not just anytime soon, maybe 2,5,10 years from now - who knows....

So, there it is....Blow me....LOL

I think many of us would appreciate a build thread on the 620!!!

Yeah...I figured it will be some time before they are worth anything if ever. Storing it will be around $100 per month. Simple math shows that after a few years the money spent on storage will pay to have the truck completed.

The value of everything I have is really unknown. I will never get back what I have in.

I'm pleased to hear both important bits of info-first, that you found the truck you were looking for, and second, that you're going to keep tabs on the rest of us asylum-mates. I know just the model 620 your're marrying-had a blue kingcab 5spd as a youngster and loved it. I've mentioned more than once how similar that truck is in appearance to the 1g mitsu-similar lines. I agree with Johnboy's plea-photos and progress, please!! I think most everyone on here has the same disease-and will appreciate your impeccable perfectionism lavished on an alternate recipient. my grampa has an 81 datsun with like 37,000 original miles. total rust bucket though

I happen to have a 77 datsun 620 setting out back that actually ran when I pulled her out there. Anythings up for grabs off it, but doubt youll be needing it for your mint 76.

Diesels go for good money in a good economy . $7500-8500 on ebay.

Paul......if you decide to wait a long long time.........better get key parts now while there around. Weatherstripping for one. Im going to get all the left in stock stuff from Mitsu pretty soon. Im preparing for the long haul since I grew up around MM/D50's.

Kerby - I failed to mention that mint is in the eye of the beholder. Mint to this truck means nice, straight, rust free, mechanically perfect, but still needs a few cosmetic things on the interior to be 100%. I may just be hitting you up for some odds and ends once I get in a little deeper. I am going to dive in this weekend. First thing is new weatherstripping around the doors. Second is a good cleaning and assessment of parts. I'll let you know - thanks!

Mike..you have a good point that I will take into consideration.

So I sat down with my wife and father last night and we had a long discussion about future plans, kids, houses, careers, investments etc and the end of the discussion resulted in this: Make the right moves early with investments, real estate etc etc and you can buy and restore anything you want in the future. We have been gearing up to buy another townhome to rent and although we have no kids, that is something to prepare for financially because they will come eventually.

We talked about sacrificing some toys. It hurts up front but the like I said, if I play my cards right I can buy that all back and then some. So, not to bore you anymore, I have decided to do the following and this is really going to hurt...

1. Sell my beloved Audi A6. I absolutely love this car and if you've ever owned or driven one, you will know why - power, performance, and luxury is unrivaled.
2. Keep the D50 and continue to plug away on that project...Mike, I will be a customer of yours inevitably.
3. Do a few things to the new Datsun and make that my Daily Driver.

This end result of this decision is no more car payment. I will sell the AUDI and pocket some dough. I will save a few bucks on car insurance. I will save a lot more bucks on maintenance for the AUDI. I will save money on gas too. This savings, along with other trimmings we have made will allow us to have more purchasing power from a lenders view. My debt to income ratio will increase etc etc. So the decision has been made so please diregard my original post about getting rid of the D50.
