I have a 1990 max with the 2.4 5spd. I was wondering if the intake can be swapped and replaced
with a older style to carb it. I'm wanting to do away with the computer and as many wires as possible . Thanks for any info anybody might have!

If I was you and it was running good I would stick with the fuel injection. It's just a better way of delivering and controling the air fuel ratio. If you go back to a carb you might be asking for trouble. Just my thought.
What I'm doing on my truck the carb is the only way I can go. Gear drive cams screw with Fuel Injection. Too much noise, they think they are pingging and retard the timming.

i have done just that swap all ready
removed my son's 2.6l and installed a 2.4l
but took an intake off of a 2.0l and added a Weber carb
just watch out for the intakes with the small EGR valve
they seem harder to find all the parts or enough ports
if you go to carb you will need a different fuel pump
EFI is like 22 Psi where carb is 4-7 Psi
my exhaust manifold was the same so no troubles there

Its not running right now it just died one day on me I have reaced the fuel pump plugs wires cap and rotor also the ign coil and the computer it turns over and just huffs and pufs from the tailpipe in thinking its a timing issue now. I sure its somthing simple the truck only has 90k on it and was running great till it just died on me one day. Thanks for the input guys I appreciate it.

The reason I was wanting to go to a carb is to have a cleaner engine bay the truck is bagged and being bodydropped goint to be a full blown show truck.
